Holiday Party

Mark your calendars!
The ever-exciting, raucous, festive, delightful and delicious
QSY Holiday Party will be held on
Saturday, December 15, 5-8pm at the East Fishkill Community Center,(really!)
The Community Center is located at 890 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Come with your spouse or significant other, or even just a friend!
It's certain to be a treat when everyone pitches in to bring
delicious platters of food and drink, and musicians need not
audition to perform. Dancing elves, however, must sign a waiver
guaranteeing they will not be disrespectful!
On the serious side, share the true spirit of the holiday by bringing
an unwrapped non-violent toy, to be contributed to Toys for Tots.
Come on now ... mark it now on the calendar, and I promise not to ever
send any emails that emit holiday tunes!

Shirley N2SKP

JOTA Event

There's a nice article about the Dutchess County Fall Boy Scout Camporee
in Saturday's (11/03) Poughkeepsie Journal. The article is on page 4B and
has good coverage of JOTA and amateur radio.
Here's a link to the online edition: Pok. Jour. JOTA article
The JOTA event worked well, with 22 boys earning their Radio Merit Badges.
Bill KC2LIX put in a strong pitch for earning a license, which was also
contained in a letter that was given to each of the boys.
Thank You! to the Amateur radio operators who were involved with this event,
and helped create an awareness and interest in ham radio. They are:
Bill Baker, KC2LIX, Merit Badge Counselor
Don Cleverley, AA2OI, Merit Badge Counselor
Bob Harris, N2BZP, Merit Badge Counselor
Dave Gong, KC2QFS
Mike Gong, KC2BNX
Dick Fritz, AB2AI
73,
Shirley N2SKP (thanks to Dave KC2AFK and Don AA2OI for this info)
