ARRL VHF QSO Party Sept. 12-13. 2009

Please reply asap if you’re interested: (even if you’ve already signed up)
We're looking for a solid 'hands-up' from hams who are interested in setting up –
operating – and tearing down - the ARRL VHF QSO Party, Sept 12-13.
This will involve setting up one or two towers in the wooded area at the top of
Perkins Drive, in Bear Mt State Park.
When: Setup Saturday morning Sept 12, teardown Sunday afternoon,
(or Monday if we have enough people for teardown)
We’ll be camping overnight – this is rustic – much smaller than Field Day –
and just real operating in a great location.
I love seeing the faces on the hikers as they walk by … !

    Shirley N2SKP

  • New Members

    Welcome the new member:
    Joey Stanford, K0FCC

    Shirley writes :
New qsy application in the mail yesterday, Joey Stanford K0FCC, lives in Colorado.
I shot him a welcome to qsy email, and asked him what we could do for him, or vice versa.
    He said:
I took my novice in NY in 1992. Because I was heading out to Colorado
the FCC gave me a 0 callsign instead of a 2.
I grew up in Red Hook, was volunteer fireman and on the Dutchess County Disaster team.
I went to school at Marist. After my parents died my brothers & I sold the house so there's
nothing much there for me now.
I am often in Boston for work these days and keep thinking of swinging by.
I really just wanted some sort of tie back into the region.
    Shirley continues :
He is interested in D-Star, QRP, ARES and more.
He will be applying for a vanity call so he will be changing to NV0N.
Maybe we'll see him someday, or someone may recogize his name.

    Important local election

Although the importance of the election of Coordinator and Co-Coordinator may not be
quite as important as the recent election of President and Vice President of the U.S of A.,
the members of the QSY Society will be pleased to know that a long and hard won campaign
is finally over. It was a landslide victory !

Kieran O'Hagan N2MWE and John Velez N2QMT are it, starting in January 2009.
Congratulations and may your reign be long and successful.
